The couple met in 2016, in a shared Uber ride through San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood. Both were headed to the Caltrain station, then riding the train to the South Bay. Piyush asked Ann if she wanted to sit together on the train. Ann agreed, and the two spent the roughly hour-long trip getting to know each other before exchanging phone numbers and going their separate ways. 

Their first date was at an Octoberfest event at Pier 48. Over the next couple years, they went on many dates, bonding over a love for new experiences and learning. Dates included a tea tasting, distillery tour, magic show, comedy shows, chocolate factory tour, farmers market strolls, and sharing a Blue Apron trial.  

The couple first began living together in 2019, during a summer in NYC, when Piyush was on an internship, and Ann took advantage of her ability to work remotely. Over the following years, a shared sense of adventure and curiosity led them to live all over the US, from California to Chicago, and back to NYC. They even spent a year moving almost monthly, while Piyush completed rotations at different hospitals in cities that the couple wanted to explore, like New Orleans, Orlando, San Diego, and L.A.

From road trips to trips overseas, Ann and Piyush love to travel - especially to visit family and friends!

Over the years, the couple often celebrated the anniversary of their first date by going to Oktoberfest events in various cities, which is what Ann thought they were doing when Piyush brought her to a venue in Brooklyn. She was suprised when they arrived at an art gallery closed for a private event, walls hung with prints detailing the story of their relationship.... she said yes!

In 2025, the couple began a new chapter, when they moved to a city that neither of them had ever been: Salt Lake City. Piyush is completing his medical residency at the University of Utah and Ann continues to work remotely as a game artist. Together they still enjoy their love of travel and hobbies of cooking, fitness classes and hiking.
